There is one thing that makes me really
angry. I get up in arms when girls and women talk in a violent way to each
other’s, using sexist vocabulary. I find disgusting when a man use sexist
vocabulary with girls, and I refuse it, but I find unacceptable when a girls
does it. I mean, we live in a sexist world where our languages are built
through sexism and genre violence. It is also violent because there is a binary
conception in our social buildings that categorize male as good and
female as bad. I think that girls have to refuse the use of sexist language,
because is violent, and is charged with a lot of misconceptions that put us in an
oppressed site. But, also, I know that is hard to get out of our language, to
look deep inside, and see those types of things (the violent sense of using
some words like "maraca", for example). I think that, to see
the violence through language, we have to name, to talk and criticize those sexist
things, and become them unnatural. Maybe, if we talk about it (about violence
in language), girls would realize that they are reproducing violence when they
use some words charged with sexism.

On thursday we had to do an activity that was about searching places to visit in London, in a context of an imaginary study trip. We had to search places on internet, seek the prices, look for the nearest tube station to get there, and the zone in which the place is located.
It was really interesting, but like it would be with more time to do it, because under pressure it is hard to me to enjoy anything :(. Anyway, I learned a lot, because I've never done this excercise before. First, I realized that England is very expensive, and to become it real (the trip), I should have to save a lot of money. Then, it seems that if I want to travel there, besides money, I need a lot of time. I think I will have to keep this in mind, because I'd love to travel to England in a close future.
If one day I would go to London, I'd like to visit almost all the places that we've looked for, because there were relevant in England History. I would like to visit other places, too. I'd love to visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum, and go to (I hope) all the jazz clubes to listening some jazz jam sessions, like Ronnie Scott's or the Vortex bar club. I'd love to go to some punk concerts in London, and exhibitions and events of punk there. And, finally, I would like to visit the best libraries in london, and arts exhibitions.
Because of my interests I don't know if I would like to go with classmates, but I'd like to go with my friends and family.

Yesterday, by
midnight, I saw for fourth or fifth time “Django Unchained” in my house, with
some friends. This is a movie by Quentin
Tarantino in which appears almost the same actors that participate in his
movies and other great actors and actress: Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leo
DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington, and so on. This movie is an
adaptation or a tribute to the old movie named “Django”, a western movie, but
in the tipicall style of Tarantino.
It is about “Django”,
a black slave that gets liberated by “dr. Schultz” a man that is a bounty hounter. The condition
to Django to get liberated by the bounty hounter, is to help Schultz to find
some fugitive of the justice that only Django could identify, because he know
them. They start becoming partners, and then Django tells his story about him
and his wife, Broomhilda Von Schaft, and
how they wanted to scape together, and then got catched and separated, and then
Schultz offers to Django to help him to find his wife. They find Broomhilda’s
owner in Candyland, a place where white and rich people forced to the slaves to
fight till death, and some other horrible things… Both characters know that to
rescue Broomhilda won’t be easy, so they get a great plan… I don’t want to tell you the end, so you can
see the movie if you haven’t yet.
I really like this
movie, not only because it is entertaining, but because it tells a good story
in a not particular way. I dislike the scenes with a lot of blood, obviously,
but the rest of the movie is really good. Almost because it shows a reality
that we didn’t live now (not in that terms) but taht we shouldn’t forget. And
because I like the female character, Broomhilda.
Hi everyone, I want to tell you about one of my favourites
bands: The Doors.
That band is one of those music that you
never get tired of listening. I have many favourite bands, is true, but
listening to Doors have always make me happy.
They played psychedelic rock and blues rock. I think I love them
so much because I have listening this kind of music since when I was a child (my first favourite Singer
is Elvis Presley, since I listened to him
when I was five years old), but also because in their music they played
different genres that I love, like rock & roll, Jazz, Blues, acid rock, and
psychedelic. Also because I think that Ray Manzarek is one of the best keyboard
players in the world, and Jim Morrison will be the best frontman on the earth.
I will post for you two songs that you may like, I hope you’ll enjoy them:
Not To Touch The Earth
Queen of the Highway

Something I'd like to learn
Since I was very little, I was an intelectually restless girl. Not because I had divine qualities. It was only because I had physical limitations. I have always had problems with interacting with people and my enviroment in general, so I was almost obligated to develop some other quality. As a very shy child, i had to refuge on books. Then, the little I talked with people, the most I read. Certainly, literature came first. My mum had always encourage our reading, to me and my brohers and sister, but I am the best reader in my house (obviously, it is because I have no more qualities, as I said). So, from short stories to large novels, I eated every book that passed through my hands. As a result, I started to learn a lot of things and, with that, I learn the love of learning and knowledge in general. I like to learn new things, but I’m afraid that everything that I learn is related with some topics in particular. I just learn by reading, so I am completely incompetent in terms of sports, music abilities and many other things.
I really would like to learn to play some instrument, but I think that I don’t have the talent in music. I always say that my only talent is to apreciate arts, but I am not an artist. I do not write quite enough to be a good writter, and I don’t draw pretty much good to be a drawer. I don’t sing really well to be a singer. I practiced dance until I was eleven years old, but I got tired of that. And I’m really bad at sports. The sad part is that all of these things are interesting to me, but my corporality doesn’t let me do them well.
Maybe the problem is that I don´t have courage, so I may start by learning how to lose the fear that keeps me quiet.
Santiago
I have to admit that is delightful to me to speak about
cities. Precisely because I like to
think, live and go through human spaces, analyzing the structures, the meaning
of the constitution, in a material and discourse sense in which are builded. I
really enjoy to see how spaces are a place in which we find lots of meanings
and dispositions. Particulary, cities are a center of human activities and,
because of that, is full of material and metaphysic senses.
In that way, Santiago is a very important space to me. I
like to walk for hours without a definite course. I consider the excercise of
walking through the city as very
relevant, because it shows on some events some aspects of our society. For example,
is not coincidence that, as a girl, I am not able to walk alone along the city
without experiencing Street harassment,
or the fact that if you walk through a bad neighborhood, or “dangerous
streets”, you will be surely a victim of assault. Then, in that sense, Santiago
has very good things that I love, like those spaces that recall history events
and are patrimony (Barrio Yungay, for example), and those places that are full
of culture and arts. I dislike those spaces that are determinated by material
conditions and socioeconomic level, not by itself, but because there where
designed places that reproduce social injustices, becoming guettos and focus of
violence. Those places are usually not pleasant to community.
To make Santiago a better place, I think it has
to be more democratic. In first place, there must not be able to have the level
of segregation that characterize our city. And then, I think we have to
socialize every space, and eliminate neoliberalism that stalks our city. But
I’m convinced that first we have to change radically the social structure and
values that are deeply in the heart of Santiago. I hope I will be alive to see
something change.

Hi everyone
I had some trouble during this weeks,
so I had not the time to do the activities. I think that is a similar case of
most of the people that are participating on the strike, so probably you are in
the same situation now. I’m going to post the activities now, so you can post
me if you want to.
What we do:
I choosed to study sociology because it brings me usefull tools to analyze society.
Also, because I really enjoy most of the contents of the career, and because I
feel that the structure of the discipline is similar to my way of thinking. It gives me a lot of
perspectives that are related with other personal interests as economy, philosophy,
psychology, politics, history and so on. I can shift from one perspective to
another easily and, I feel, it connects differents knowledges, so I may explain
or understand societal phenomenons in a deeper and critical way.
Professionals in my area have a lot
of skills to contribute to society. Having a degree in sociology allows you to
work in different spaces. In our country, sociologists focus on political
publics or academy, and they work on public and private organizations, to
analyze social phenomenons, thinking in solutions to society issues, creating
projects, supporting other disciplines, et cetera. I think that, in the future,
sociologists will have to develop some mechanisms to approach to a society that
is becoming more technologycal, so most of the phenomenons will have place in
some no-places on the internet, and some stuff like that.
At the moment, my favourite subjects those thar
are related with history, psychology and philosophy. I like most of the
subject, with the exception of statistics (in wich I am really really bad).

First of all, I think that is necessary to think strikes as a way to express not only
particular opinions, but collective demands. In that way, I think that
university strikes in Chile as high school strikes are mechanisms of
expressions that are internally legitimated. I mean, internally because, as a
way of expression, it cause different impressions and feelings in population.
Anyway, if there are bad opinions and feelings about strikes, I don't see them
as a bad thing, because that's the point of striking.
So, I agree
with this way of expression, then I participate too. Last year I didn't have
the chance to participate always, because I had to work during that time, but
now I'm not working so I’m expecting to participate as I would to. As I said,
strikes are internally legitimated, not only because it has become a
traditional way to express, but also because is a way to disturb the routine of
the institutions and the routine of the people related with institutions that
seems to be affected with strikes (I mean, institutions like universities,
schools, education minister, government, and so on). As a result of that
disturb, institutions are obligated to give answers to students demands. I
think that the problem is that institutional answers are not always
satisfactory because, at the time, there are not true intentions to make
structural changes. So, related with that, there are some troubles that appear
like losing classes. I think that both things are related because while we are not
having classes, we have not the time to think how to recuperate them without
the damage of our knowledge. But, in the other hand, there are not responses to
our demands or projects that change the structural problems so, even if we
recuperate our classes, educational system is still getting worse.
As a
conclusion, I think that to resolve that issue (losing classes), is necessary
to stop, to strike, everyone and everything, to disturb and interrupt the
course of this bad-educational-system and resolve in real terms the structural
problems. Then, it would be possibly to restart our classes and have a good
(and free) education and will have not to strike anymore.

About my presentation today... I talked about Michel Foucault. A philosopher that I really like, and have read a lot, so i choosed him to talk about because I thought that it would be easily. But... the thing is that I hate to speak english in public. I mean, I hate speaking in public in general (english or spanish), but it makes me really nervous to speak in english. I think that it may be really funny to see me when I'm speaking, because I blush so fast and so red, hahah. Also, i think i speak in english like Slavoj Zizek (a Yugoslavian philosopher that speak in english with a funny accent. Here is a video of him if you wanna know how he speak: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/video/2014/dec/03/slavoj-zizek-philosopher-what-is-freedom-today-video). Anyway, it was a short presentation so I didn't suffer too much.
That's all. Hope you're all ok. Regards

When I was a child, every family
celebration was by going out to eat. I doesn’t matter the motive or the
situation. We always went out to eat. So, birthays, graduations, anniversaries, or any motive, was equal to going out… and
eat. Anyway, my mother used to cook
delicious food in my house, so the entertaining thing was not eating by itself.
The enjoyable thing was to get served, and the time for talking calmly and have
some fun, without my mum working alone for everyone. It was a lovely meeting
time.
When my parents got divorced, many things changed. But not the habit to
celebrate by eating out. Now, we have to go twice: one time with my mother, and
other with my father (I think that’s why I’m becoming fat, maybe haha). So, we
ussually eat out at different places. One of my favorites is called “New
Horizon”, and it’s located in Merced, Santiago. It serves indian food. I love
it, because is good, attractive and affordable. They have some vegetarian tasty
alternatives. I’ve been vegetarian for almost five years, and since I’ve become
veggie, I really love this place for eating out.
I like to eat white rice with vegetals
seasoned with curry and some other
indian ingredients. It’s really really
good.

Hi bloggers
Here's my performance
on the activities:
Activity 1 :
Activity 2:
Total
Question(s): 10
I Just failed on the
question that asked me about the three most commonly used Boolean operators (I
really had no idea about what was the question), but I learned that the trhee
most commonly were "and, or, not".
-On the second quiz,
my final score was 49. I'm really impressed about that, but I don't kow if that
is good or bad (I was expecting something wrong, like one thousand points
ahahah).
Activity 3:
-My results were 100%
Activity 4:
I choosed an article
named: 10 things That Aren't Free Speech, because I thought that it wpuld be interesting. I did not find enough information in the arcticle beacause it were anything of what I was expecting for. The most interesting thing that I learned about was some speech topics that U.S. does not admit.

I really don't know what's my favorite piece of technology. I use them a lot during the day. My cellphone, the computer and tablet are some of them. I have strange feelings about it, because sometimes i think that they are stealing my freedom; they're keeping me chain to internet and social networks. But they also save me a lot of time. Anyway, if i have to choose one, I may say that my cellphone is my favorite one.
Is embarrassing to me to say that, in the past, I used to hate the relation that people had created with cellphones. I've always laughted seeing people everywhere, and every day, fixed to the screens. But I have to admit that now I'm one of them, since two years ago. My father gave it to me for christmas, in 2014. Since that moment, I use it everytime, all day and night. Everytime I'm awake I see the screen to check if something new has appeared; a message, an e-mail or social networks notifications. As I said, i've many fellings about it, the same as bad as good. But some of the good reasons are that I save a lot of time searching information, reading, communicating with people, taking photos, listening to music, seeing videos, playing games, and all the oportunnities that I get by using this object. Even when I refuse to interact with someone (in real life) I use my cellphone (not in a bad way, I do it because i'm shy).
I like to think how would be life if cellphones does not exist. Obviously, we have some idea. Cellphones are really new. Even five years ago, having a cellphone was different than having one now. I mean that not everybody has mobile internet, or an access to wifi, so the use of the object was different. I think that as the time is passing, the use of cellphone is becoming universal, necessary, almost obligatory. Maybe, many things that are happening now would be different without cellphones, in many ways. I think the most important thing that would be different is the type of communication. Now, information travels easier, faster and in a global way; and cellphone has a great role in that. In the basic function, cellphones provide to society a fascinating thing: an opportunity to call others, to send messages, at the instant. That's important because it may translate in a social organization that can be very usefull. In other words, a life without cellphones would be (maybe) the same as before: wich means that would be as good as bad.

I really love this picture. I tooked it with my cellphone a month and a half ago, from my bedroom's house, when i used to live in San José de Maipo.
It was on the third floor. It shows the panoramic view that i had from my bedroom - that's the reason of why i like it-. The hills around my house and all the trees, colouring green everywhere.
I had the best view from that part of the house, and i used to look from my window for hours, layed in my bed, listening to music or having a cigar with some friends. It doesn't matter in wich part of the year, every day and every night the view was amazing. Early, by the morning, i could see the sun appearing and hear the birds singing. By the night, i could see the stars. It was better than movies.
It makes me really sad to remember all those things that i don't have anymore. But it reminds me too that everything passes away, so i have to live the present enjoying and feeling it.

Hi, I'm Cami. I'm 19 years old and i'm studying Sociology at
Universidad de Chile. I live in Puente Alto. I like to read, eat and sleep (a lot). Some of
my interests are philosophy, music, art, sociology, politics, and some
other related topics. I’m not very good at introducing myself so i’d prefer to
answer some questions if you want to.
